Northeastern Opens 2024 At UMass Flagship Invite

BOSTON — The Northeastern track and field team opens 2024 ready to compete in the UMass Flagship Invitational at the Track at New Balance this Sunday, Jan. 14 at 10 a.m.

Three Things to Know:
  1. KEEP AN EYE ON BIRON – Dec. 12 CAA Field Athlete of the Week Dominique Biron finished her last meet of 2023 with a win at the URI Pentathlon, ending with 4,040 points, 389 above the runner up.
  2. FRESHMAN ON THE UPSWING – At the Joe Donahue Games in December, freshman Savannah Blair kickstarted her college career with a time of 7.57 in the women's 60m, placing her sixth in Northeastern All-Time Top Ten Performance List. Freshman Cassandra Cinzori also took home the win in women's pole vault in her collegiate debut with a height of 3.50m, ranking 10th on the Northeastern All-Time Indoor Performance List. Blair is expected to compete in the 60m, 200m and 4x400m Relay this Sunday while Cinzori will return to pole vault.
  3. REPEATING HISTORY – At the 2023 UMass Flagship Invitational, Ethan Exilhomme and Kyle Sarney walked away with new personal bests. Exilhomme also set the program indoor record in the 60m hurdles, running a time of 7.76 seconds. Sarney finished with a time of 2:29.98 in the 1000m.
Following Sunday's meet, the Huskies will continue their indoor season with multiple meets Saturday, Jan. 20 as they head to the Battle in Beantown at Boston University and the New Balance Collegiate Showdown at the Track at New Balance.
