No. 14 Northeastern Outlasts Merrimack, 4-3

BOSTON— Fifth year Katy Knoll potted the game-winner to deliver the No. 14 Northeastern women's hockey team a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the Merrimack Warriors on Saturday night in Matthews Arena.

Junior Paige Taborski made her second career start in goal and picked up her second career win in as many games over the Warriors. All four forward lines produced goals for Northeastern tonight, and 11 Huskies recorded a point.
  • A busy first period got underway just 54 seconds in as Merrimack took a 1-0 lead. Senior Molly Griffin then tied the score at 1-1 with her first goal of the season with assists from sophomore Lily Shannon and freshman Peyton Compton.
  • The Warriors retook the lead, 2-1, 41 seconds after Griffin's goal. However, the first period scoring wasn't finished, junior Taze Thompson once again tied the game for the Huskies with her 10th goal of the season. Thompson tipped in a point shot from graduate student Megan Carter and freshman Allie Lalonde also claimed an assist. The two sides skated into the second period with the score knotted at 2-2.
  • A four-goal first period gave way to a one-goal second frame, as the Huskies took their first lead of the game with freshman Ella Blackmore scoring. Blackmore's second tally in as many games against the Warriors brought the score to 3-2 and was assisted by sophomore Mia Langlois.
  • Knoll took the Husky lead to two in the third frame with her second goal of the weekend. Knoll's goal had helpers from graduate student Peyton Anderson and senior Lily Yovetich. Merrimack pulled its goaltender and claimed an extra attacker goal in the final minutes and the final ended at 4-3 in favor of the Huskies.
  • Taborski made 11 saves in net for Northeastern.
Northeastern will next travel to face New Hampshire on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 6 p.m.
