DURHAM, N.H. – In a non-conference bout, the Northeastern Huskies men's soccer team (1-4-6) played to a 1-1 draw with the New Hampshire Wildcats (2-2-4) on Tuesday evening at Wildcat Stadium.
- Northeastern broke the stalemate in the 39th minute when the Huskies were awarded a free kick from about 32 yards out on the right side. Ethan Kang lofted a ball into the box and Kade Tepe delivered a strike on the volley that beat the keeper on the right side post for the 1-0 lead.
- The Wildcats tallied the equalizer on a through ball in the 84th minute.
- Northeastern led in shots on goal 5-1 through the first half, and 9-6 overall. The Wildcats responded with nine shots of their own in the second half, six of them on target.
- The tie breaks an eight-game winning streak for UNH in the all-time series – it's only the second time in series history where the teams played to a draw.
- Tepe's goal was his second of the season, tying him for the team lead in goals.
- Defending CAA Defensive Player of the Week Colby Hegarty faced 15 shots, stopping five of six shots in target. In net, Hegarty was on a 280-minute scoreless streak, with his last goal given up coming in the 73rd minute against William & Mary (9/21) followed by back-to-back shutouts.
The Huskies will continue CAA play next Saturday, October 12
th when they head down to Mt. Pleasant, S.C. to face the College of Charleston on FloFC. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
