Northeastern Downs Dartmouth, 4-2

BROOKLINE, Mass. – In a non-conference match up, the Northeastern Huskies (2-4-7) defeated the Dartmouth Big Green (4-5-3) by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday evening at Parsons Field.

Goals came early and often for the Huskies, who tallied a goal in the opening three minutes of play, and three unanswered goals from the 40th to the 53rd minute to eventually lead 4-1 midway early in second half.

  • Northeastern struck first in the third minute on a cross from the left side of the box delivered by Jaden Prado, finding Ethan Franco crashing the goal line to tap it in for the 1-0 lead.
  • Dartmouth answered back on a breakaway in the 30th minute to tie it 1-1.
  • The Huskies were able to pull back in front in the 40th minute when Neil Devnani was taken down in the penalty area, giving Fraser Brown a penalty kick opportunity. Brown picked his spot and buried it to the left of the keeper for the 2-1 lead.
  • NU continued its run of three unanswered goals just minutes into the second half, when a corner kick from Morris Matthews bounced off Mathias Hille, Griffin Polinsky, and eventually found the foot of a diving Connor Lawlor, chipping in his first career goal to give the Huskies a 3-1 lead.
  • In the 53rd minute, Sebastian Restrepo picked off an errant back pass from the Big Green defense and sprinted to the 18 yard box and fired a shot over the keeper for the 4-1 lead.
  • Dartmouth looked to claw back into it in the 57th minute, tallying its second goal on free kick from about 20 yards out, but the Northeastern defense snuffed out any trouble in the final 30 minutes of play.
  • Franco's goal was the first of his Husky career after tallying 11 career goals for DIII Colby College.
  • Brown's penalty kick conversion gives him goals in back to back appearances, after tallying the game-tying goal last Saturday at Charleston.
  • It's the second time this season the Huskies have tallied four goals in a match – both of those contests took place at Parsons Field.
  • Northeastern is now on a five-game unbeaten streak, stretching all the way back to September 24th.

The Huskies stay home for their next CAA game which takes place this Saturday, October 19th at 1 p.m. against Delaware. That game will stream on FloFC.
