Six Different Huskies Score In Win Over Delaware

BROOKLINE, Mass. – In a Saturday afternoon CAA contest, the Northeastern Huskies (3-4-7, 1-3-2 CAA) defeated the Delaware Blue Hens (7-5-2, 2-4-0 CAA) by a final score of 6-0 at Parsons Field.

The Huskies had six different players tally a goal in the contest, as NU grabbed its first CAA victory of the season in convincing fashion. It was the second straight win for the Huskies, and the best offensive performance by the program in three seasons.

  • The Huskies once again started the game with strong offensive pressure, and took an early lead barely 11 minutes into the game when Ethan Franco found Sebstain Restrepo charging down the right side of the pitch. Restrepo dribbled into the 18 and fired with his right foot into the bottom left corner of the net to give NU the early 1-0 lead.
  • NU doubled its lead in the 35th minute when a corner kick from Ethan Kang was sent along on a header by Fraser Brown, eventually finding the head of Connor Lawlor who bounced the ball off the goalie's hand and in for his second goal in as many games.
  • A pair of substitutes finished out the first half with a perfect bit of play in the offensive half – Neil Devnani picked off a defender and hit an inch-perfect centering pass to Fraser Brown, who fired across his body into the bottom-left corner of the net for the 3-0 halftime lead.
  • The Huskies picked up right where they left off at halftime scoring just three minutes into the second half on a corner kick from Morris Matthews. His perfect cross found a charging Mathias Hille who powered the ball into the net with his header, giving the Huskies a 4-0 lead.
  • A long ball from Neil Devnani found Harry Sankey on the left wing in the 52nd minute, and Sankey dribbled into the box and set up a perfect back pass for Morris Matthews, whose left-footed strike found the back of the net and extended the lead to 5-0.
  • Coming on late was Kevin Ogudugu, tallying an assist on a run down the left sideline that continued to the endline as he dribbled past four Delaware defenders. At the end of his run he found a wide open Ethan Franco who hit a shot into the right upper-90 for the final goal of the game in the 87th minute.
  • Fraser Brown is now on a three-game scoring streak, having tallied goals against Charleston, Dartmouth, and now Delaware. Neil Devnani tallied the first two points of his college career on a pair of assists in the contest.
  • Morris Matthews tallied his first career goal in the contest - his three-point afternoon put him up to eight points (1g, 6a) in his career.
  • Colby Hegarty collected his fourth shutout of the season making a pair of saves in the contest. He now owns a 3-2-5 record on the season and a 0.80 GAA.
  • It's the highest-scoring game for the program since 2021, when the Huskies defeated Charleston by a score of 7-0 at home on October 30th.
  • The Huskies are now on a six-game unbeaten streak, which is the longest since the start of the 2021 season, where Northeastern went 7-0-2 in its opening nine games.

Northeastern returns to action next Saturday, October 26th as the Huskies travel to Elon, North Carolina for a 7 p.m. match. That game will stream on FloFC.
