ELON, N.C. – The Northeastern University men's soccer team (3-5-7, 1-4-2 CAA) dropped a road match to the Elon Phoenix (9-5-1, 5-2-0 CAA) by a final score of 4-2 on Saturday evening at Rudd Field.
- After a scoreless first half in which Elon tallied five shots on target, the Phoenix got on the board in the 56th minute, finally capitalizing on the offensive pressure to lead 1-0.
- The Huskies answered back four minutes later as Ethan Kang hit a volley pass up field to Harry Sankey – Sankey settled and fired a shot from just inside the 18 that tipped past the fingertips of the Elon keeper, tying the game 1-1 in the 60th minute.
- Northeastern took the lead in the 71st minute after an Elon handball in the box – Fraser Brown stepped to the penalty spot and buried the goal for his fourth goal in as many games.
- Elon tallied three unanswered goals in the 72nd, 75th, and 82nd minutes to retake the lead and secure the win.
- The Northeastern defense faced a season-high 25 shots in the contest – goalkeeper Colby Hegarty made a season-high seven saves.
