NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — The Northeastern men's hockey team fell, 4-1, to Merrimack on Saturday night.
- The first period was slow from both ends of the ice, but Merrimack was able to convert on a power-play opportunity just before the midway point in the frame.
- Junior Vinny Borgesi's shot, at the 9:34 mark, from the boards deflected off sophomore Andy Moore to trickle out to open ice. The puck was collected by freshman James Fisher and carried to the slot for a wrister as he tallied his first collegiate goal and made it a 1-1 game.
- Northeastern took back control in the middle period, outshooting the Warriors 16-14 through 40 minutes of action with the game heading into the final frame tied.
- Merrimack would score three unanswered goals in the third period to take the 4-1 win.
- Sophomore goaltender Cameron Whitehead finished with 17 saves on the night.
- Junior Cam Lund lead both teams with six shots, while senior Ryan McGuire lead both teams with 18 faceoff wins.
Northeastern will resume play after the holiday break at the 2024 Ledyard Classic tournament held by Dartmouth College on Friday, Dec. 28 and Saturday, Dec. 29. The Huskies will face league opponent, Providence College, in the opening round of the tournament.
