HANOVER, N.H. — The Northeastern men's hockey team dropped game one of the 35
th annual Ledyard Classic to No. 7 Providence, 3-1.
- It was a scoreless first period with Northeastern leading Providence, 7-6, in shots.
- In the middle frame, the Friars would tally two unanswered goals for the lead heading into the intermission.
- Bringing his team within one, the captain, Jack Williams, tallied his eighth goal of the season to make it a 2-1 game. First with a block in the defensive zone, Williams created a breakaway opportunity for the bury.
- Less than five minutes to play, Providence would tack on their final goal of the night for a 3-1 advantage.
- Sophomore goaltender Cameron Whitehead finished the game with 32 saves.
- Graduate student Jake Boltmann led the Huskies with three blocks, while junior Cam Lund and senior Ryan McGuire each tallied nine faceoff wins.
The Huskies will be back at Thompson Arena tomorrow to either face Dartmouth or Alaska Anchorage. Game time is to be determined.
