EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern (10-3) scored 50 points and shot 65% in the second half to turn a two-point halftime lead into an 85-60 victory over the Northeastern men's basketball team on Sunday afternoon at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

LA Pratt had 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting for a Huskies squad that shot better than 50% for the seventh time this season, finishing the day 24-of-47 and tying a season-high with nine made threes (9-of-22), including eight in the first half. Pratt added seven rebounds and four assists, while
Masai Troutman joined him in double figures with 17 points (4-of-5 from three).

The Huskies close non-conference play at 8-5 overall, their most non-conference victories since the 2015-16 season.

Northwestern, meanwhile, saw Ty Berry (23) and Brooks Barnhizer (22) combined for 45 points to lead four Wildcats in double figures. Northwestern shot 54% overall (30-of-56), 36% from three (9-of-25) and turned 22 Huskies turnovers into 34 points.

Northeastern got just the start it needed, beginning the day 8-of-12 overall and 6-of-8 from distance to lead by as many as 13 at 22-9 midway through the first half. Troutman led the way with 10 points on 3-of-4 from the field (3-of-3 from three), while Pratt added eight points, six rebounds and three assists for a Huskies team that shot 46% overall and 47% from long range in the opening 20 minutes.

The Huskies did the job at the other end as well as Northwestern began the afternoon 6-of-21 overall but stayed in the game at the free throw line, going 10-of-12.  The Wildcats got hot late, though, using a 21-5 run over nearly eight minutes and hitting its final four shots of the half to take its first lead with two minutes until the break and taking a 35-33 lead into the locker room.Â

After a Pratt bucket tied the game at 35 early in the second half, Northwestern put its foot on the gas with an 21-4 run over less than five minutes to retake the lead and go up by 17 with 13:13 to play, 56-39.

Northeastern continued to fight and got the lead down to 11 with seven minutes left, but a 16-2 Wildcats run from there put the hosts up for good.
