Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Borgesi, Lund Three-Point Efforts Lift Huskies Over Bears

BOSTON, Mass. — Juniors Vinny Borgesi and Cam Lund each recorded a three-point effort en route to lifting the Northeastern men's hockey to a 4-3 win over Brown University on Saturday night.
  • It was a quick start for the Huskies as defenseman Vinny Borgesi netted his second of the season for a 1-0 advantage. Forwards Dylan Hryckowian and Jack Williams battled for possession of the puck, leading to a connection between Williams and Borgesi for the tally.
  • Heading into the middle frame, Northeastern would tack on another early period goal. Forward Cam Lund won the faceoff directly back to junior Jackson Dorrington in the slot for a quick wrister and his second goal of the season, giving NU a 2-0 lead.
  • Williams, with his second point of the evening, extended the Huskies' advantage, 3-0, with a power-play bury. Borgesi and Lund would be credited with the helpers on Williams' one-timer, both for their second point of the game.
  • The scoring continued for NU as Lund collected his, team-high, eighth goal of the season and third point of the night. Graduate student Jake Boltmann picked off the puck from Brown's skater for a quick feed to Borgesi across ice. Borgesi found Lund at the redline where he went the distance to make it 4-0.
  • Brown would go on to score three unanswered goals late in the third period to make it 4-3.
  • In his fourth win of the season, sophomore goaltender Cameron Whitehead recorded 22 saves.
  • Senior Ryan McGuire finished with a game-high 15 faceoff wins, followed by Lund with seven. Additionally, McGuire tied for a team-high two blocks with Dorrington and freshman Jack Henry.
Northeastern will prepare for a single-game weekend next as they head to Merrimack next Saturday (Dec. 14) for a 6:00 p.m. puck drop on NESN.
