Peyton Anderson Scores In OT To Lift No. 13 Huskies Past No. 15/14 Eagles

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.— Graduate student Peyton Anderson tallied the game-winning goal in overtime to deliver the No. 13 Northeastern women's hockey team a 3-2 victory over No. 15/14 Boston College on Friday afternoon at Conte Forum.
 
With the victory, the Huskies have officially clinched a bye and home ice for the Hockey East Quarterfinals.
  • Fifth year Katy Knoll opened the scoring for both sides with a power-play tally at the 15:45 mark of the second period. Knoll's ninth tally of the year came with assists from sophomore Jules Constantinople and graduate student Megan Carter. With the assist, Carter extends her point-streak to eight games.
  • With six seconds remaining in the second period, BC tied the game at 1-1 with a power-play goal of its own.
  • In the third period, Boston College took a 2-1 lead with a goal from Sammy Smigliani. As the clock wound down, the Huskies pulled their goalie in favor of the extra attacker, looking for the equalizer. Captain Carter delivered the game-tying goal with 1:22 remaining to send the game to overtime with assists from junior Taze Thompson and Peyton Anderson.
  • In overtime, Peyton Anderson scored her team-leading 14th goal of the season to secure a win for Northeastern. Peyton Anderson's game-winner had helpers from Thompson and Constantinople.
  • Fifth year netminder Gwyneth Philips made 27 saves in net for the Huskies.
Northeastern and the Eagles will close out the series with a 2 p.m. puck drop in Matthews Arena on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m.
