Brown's PK Secures Tie With BU

BROOKLINE, Mass. – In their 2024 home opener, the Northeastern Huskies (0-1-1) came back from down 1-0 to tie the Boston University Terriers (0-0-2) 1-1 at Parsons Field on Tuesday night. Northeastern tied the game off the boot of Fraser Brown, who scored from the penalty spot midway through the second half.

  • The Terriers took the lead in the 30th minute on a shot from just outside the 18' on an unassisted breakaway.
  • Northeastern responded with on-target shots but was unable to create many chances late despite seven total shots in the first half.
  • The Huskies picked up the pressure in the second half with a pair of corners in the first 20 minutes of play.
  • Midfielder Ethan Franco charged into the box to retrieve a through ball and was taken down by a BU defender, setting up a 69th minute penalty kick. Fraser Brown stepped up to the spot and converted for his first goal of the 2024 season.
  • The Huskies looked for the winner with a flurry of chances in the final 10 minutes that were blocked, followed by a last-minute corner kick that was headed down by Harry Sankey, but the shot fell to the BU keeper to close the game.
  • NU goalkeeper Tobias Jahn made seven saves in the contest, stopping all but one BU shot on target.
  • It's the second straight 1-1 draw in the series history between the two programs, with BU now leading 23-10-3 in the all-time series. The Huskies have been undefeated in the series at Parsons Field since 2016.

Northeastern remains at home for its next three games, starting with Siena on Sunday, September 1st at 12 p.m. on FloFC.
