Jacob Plihal Wins 1x C Final At Paris Olympics

PARIS – Men's rowing alumni Jacob Plihal wrapped up his Olympics debut on Saturday morning in style, winning the C final of the men's single sculls at Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium.

Facing scullers from Bulgaria, Brazil, Hungary, Paraguay, and Algeria, Plihal began to pull ahead through the first 500 meters and didn't look back. He led the field for the entirety of the race, extending his advantage in the third and final 500. The Vashon Island, Washington native crossed the line at 2.64 seconds ahead of Kristian Vasilev (BUL) with a time of 6:41.97. Plihal's time also was the second-best of the day behind Oliver Zeidler (GER), who won the A final at 6:37.57.

Plihal finished the Olympics 13th overall, and was the first Northeastern men's rower since 2016 to compete in the event.
