BOSTON, Mass. –  Powered by a three-goal first period in front of a record-setting crowd, the No. 15 Northeastern women's hockey team defeated No. 12 Boston College in the Beanpot semifinals on Tuesday evening at Matthews Arena, 4-2. The Huskies advance to the Beanpot Championship game next Tuesday, Jan. 21 against Boston University in TD Garden.
  • The Huskies got on the board first 9:56 into the opening frame thanks to freshman Morgan Jackson. The rush began with a lead pass in the neutral zone to Jackson from freshman Éloïse Caron, who gained the puck from senior Tory Mariano. Jackson's from the point beat both a BC defender and the netminder for the 1-0 lead.
  • A mere 56 seconds later, captain Taze Thompson were tack on another goal to put the Huskies up 2-0. Junior Jules Constantinople fired a shot from the perimeter that hit off senior Skylar Irving in the slot. Thompson quickly recovered the loose puck and buried her fifth goal of the season.
  • Northeastern earned their first power play of the game with less than eight minutes to play and took a 3-0 lead with the advantage. The Huskies looking to find the open skater as junior Lily Shannon dropped the puck back for Mariano who, with a few quick moves, found space to score her first goal of the season and tally her second point of the night.
  • Before the period closed out, BC's Sammy Taber would score with 18 seconds left to make it a 3-1 game heading into the first intermission.
  • Northeastern would take back a three-goal lead 4:34 into the middle frame, scoring the lone goal of the period to make it 4-1. At the defensive blueline, Shannon stripped the puck from the Eagles' defenseman for a one-on-one breakaway and a shorthanded bury.
  • Despite Boston College's late power-play tally, the Eagles were unable to overcome their deficit as the Huskies skated away with the 4-2 victory.
  • Freshman netminder Lisa Jönsson finished with 37 saves, tied for her career-high, in her tenth win of the season.
  • Both Constantinople and Mariano recorded four blocks, while Thompson recorded a team-high five shots.
  • The Huskies played in front of 3,298 fans, a record for a Northeastern women's hockey game and Beanpot game at a school site.
Ahead of the Beanpot championship next week, the Huskies will play Providence at Schneider Arena on Friday, Jan. 17 before returning home on Saturday, Jan. 18.
