PROVIDENCE, R.I.— The No. 15 Northeastern women's hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision to the Providence College Friars on Friday night at Schneider Arena.

• The Friars scored three goals in the opening frame to jump out to a commanding 3-0 lead. Neither side could find the back of the net in the second as the score stood at 3-0 headed into the third period.
• Providence netted a fourth goal at the 6:36 mark of the third period. Senior Taze Thompson got the Huskies on the scoreboard with a power-play, extra-attacker goal with under three minutes remaining in the contest. Thompson's sixth tally of the season was assisted by junior Lily Brazis and graduate student Jaden Bogden.
• PC scored one final goal on an empty-net to bring the final score to 5-1.  
• Sophomore netminder Mattie Robitzer made her first career start and appearance against the Friars. She made 21 saves in the game.

Northeastern will next host the Friars on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 3 p.m. in Matthews Arena for its Alumni and Taylor Swift game.
