No. 13 Huskies Trounce RPI, 6-1

BOSTON— Freshman goaltender Renna Trembecky made her first career start in goal to guide the No. 13 Northeastern women's hockey team to a 6-1 victory over RPI on Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena. The Huskies have started their season on a four-game win-streak their longest to open a season since 2022-23.

Senior Lily Shannon posted the first four-point performance of her career against the Engineers, with one goal and three assists. The Huskies scored six goals, the most in a game since Jan. 5, 2024.
  • Senior Holly Abela opened the scoring with a power-play goal for the Huskies just under 11 minutes into the game. Abela's tally was her first of the season and was assisted by freshman Stryker Zablocki and senior Jules Constantinople.
  • RPI then tied the game at 1-1, 38 seconds after Abela's goal.
  • NU regained its lead at 2-1 with graduate student Jaden Bogden's first goal of the season, assisted by Shannon and freshman Ella Lloyd. Sophomore Tuva Kandell sent the Huskies into the first intermission up 3-1 with her first tally of the year. She had helpers from Bogden and Shannon.
  • The second frame was all Huskies with sophomore Morgan Jackson, Shannon and Bogden all scoring to give Northeastern a 6-1 lead. Jackson capitalized on a miscue from the RPI goaltender to score unassisted.
  • Shannon had helpers from Zablocki and senior Kristina Allard. Bogden's second goal of the day was assisted by senior Rylie Jones and Shannon.
  • Northeastern closed out the game with a 6-1 advantage over the Engineers.
  • Trembecky made 11 saves in her collegiate debut, picking up her first career win.
Northeastern next hits the road for a two-game series at No. 7 Quinnipiac beginning on Friday, Oct. 17 at 3 p.m.
