Northeastern Set For First Road Battle Against UMass

BOSTON, Mass. — The Northeastern men's hockey team travels to Amherst, Mass. for their first road game of the season to take on the No. 11 UMass Minutemen on Friday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. A MASS MATCHUP: Friday's game marks the 109th all-time meeting between the two programs. This is the first of three matchups between the two teams in the first semester. Northeastern won the most recent meeting (Jan. 22, 2025) with a 3-0 victory at the Mullins Center --- the program's first shutout since Feb. 25, 2023, at Matthews Arena where NU won 4-0 over UMass.
  2. THE 100 CLUBSeniors Vinny Borgesi and Joaquim Lemay opened the 2025-26 season each playing in their 100th collegiate game against Holy Cross (Oct. 4). Borgesi came into this season as Northeastern's top defenseman, leading the team in points (22), goals (5) and assists (17) during the 2024-25 slate. Lemay, a transfer from UNO during the 2024-25 season, came in and recorded 12 points from three goals and nine assists and tallied his first point as a Husky in his debut game with an assist against #11 Providence (Nov. 8 ).
  3. IMMEDIATE IMPACT PLAYERSThree newcomers -- transfers Austen May and Tyler Fukakusa, along with freshman Jacob Mathieu -- have made an immediate impact early in the season. Through the first two games, the trio has combined for eight points with two goals and six assists. The transfer duo, May (1g, 2a) and Fukakusa (3a), are both averaging 1.5 points per game, while Mathieu (1g, 1a) is producing at a point-per-game pace.
