NORFOLK, Va.— Freshman Ava Gialanella tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Northeastern women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Hampton on Sunday afternoon.

• Sophomore Lughano Nyondo broke through after a scoreless first frame for the Huskies to take a 1-0 lead in the 54th minute. Nyondo's first goal of the season came off freshman Ava Gialanella's free kick that senior Lauren Ahles played to Nyondo for the goal.
• Following a red card on Northeastern to drop the Huskies down to 10 players, Hampton scored on the ensuing free kick to tie that game at 1-1 in the 55th minute.
• Gialanella scored the eventual game-winner and her first career goal off a corner kick from senior Lauren Dupont to seal the victory for the Huskies in the 78th minute.
• Northeastern held on for the final 12 minutes of regulation to take home the 2-1 victory.
• Junior goalkeeper Eliza Teplow finished with five saves in her third win of the season. 

The Huskies will close out the regular season at Monmouth on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m.
