NU Stays Hot With 4–1 Road Win Over No. 11/10 BC

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Four different Huskies found the back of the net as the Northeastern men's hockey team earned a 4-1 victory over No. 11/10 Boston College on Thursday night at Conte Forum.

Sophomore James Fisher opened the scoring at 16:20 of the first period, capitalizing after a BC defender's clearance attempt deflected off junior Eli Sebastian. From beyond the faceoff dot, Fisher fired a shot on net for his first collegiate goal, giving NU the 1-0 lead.

Less than a minute later, senior Vinny Borgesi doubled the lead – and netted the eventual game-winner – with his first of the season. Junior Tyler Fukakusa started the rush with a feed up ice to rookie Giacomo Martino, who dropped the puck back for Borgesi to rip a shot top shelf and make it 2-0 Huskies.

Boston College responded with a power-play tally from Teddy Stiga late in the frame to make it a 2-1 game heading into the first intermission.

After a scoreless second period, junior Dylan Hryckowian extended the Huskies lead midway through the third, jamming home a shot on the doorstep following sustains pressure around the net. Sophomore Joe Connor and freshman Jack Pechar picked up the assists on the play, with the rookie recording his first collegiate point.

With the Eagle's pulling their goaltender for an extra skater, freshman Jacob Mathieu put the game out of reach, firing home an empty netter with just :13 seconds remaining, as Connor and Hryckowian each collected their second points of the night with the helpers.

Goaltender Lawton Zacher stopped a season-high 40 shots to backstop NU to victory. The junior netminder improved to 2-0-0 in Hockey East play, while picking up his fourth win of the season.

The Huskies return to Matthews Arena tomorrow night to close out their series with the Eagles, with puckdrop set for 7 p.m.
