NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.— A balanced offensive attacked helped the No. 8/9 Northeastern Huskies defeat the Merrimack Warriors, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, NU has seven-straight wins to open Hockey East play, its most ever.
- Northeastern potted a pair of goals in the first period to take a 2-0 lead. Just over five minutes in, junior Ella Blackmore scored with helpers from seniors Lily Brazis and Jules Constantinople.
- Senior Mia Langlois doubled the Huskies' lead with her first goal of the season. Langlois' tally was assisted by juniors Rylie Jones and Ellie Mabardy.
- In the second, Brazis scored to push the score to 3-0 in favor of the Huskies with assists from Blackmore and senior Holly Abela.
- Sophomore Éloïse Caron got back to her scoring ways, extending the Northeastern lead to 4-0 with a goal a minute and 11 seconds into the third period. Caron had assists from sophomore Morgan Jackson and Jones.
- Senior Lily Shannon closed out the scoring with a power-play tally to bring the final score to 5-0. Shannon's goal had assists from Constantinople and freshman Alessia Baechler.
- Sophomore netminder Lisa Jönsson improved to 8-1-0 and posted her third shutout of the season with 10 saves.
Northeastern will next travel to Maine for a two-game series beginning on Friday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m.
