BOSTONÂ -- The Northeastern women's volleyball team (9-16, 5-11) fell to Hofstra (21-3, 13-3) in four sets at Cabot Center on Saturday evening in its regular season finale.
Hofstra def. Northeastern: 28-26, 25-19, 25-19, 25-11
- Set One: The opening set proved to be a thriller, featuring 10 tie scores and five lead changes. Northeastern opened strong with back-to-back kills from Emma Rowell, but Hofstra responded to tie it at 2-2. The Huskies built leads throughout the set, including an 18-18 tie after a service ace from Beatrice Gennari. Down 24-23, Northeastern fought off set point to tie at 24-24 on a kill from Gennari. The set entered extra points with neither team able to pull away. After tying at 26-26, Hofstra's Clara Bal delivered consecutive kills to seal the 28-26 victory.
- Set Two: Northeastern came out firing in the second, jumping to a 5-0 lead highlighted by a service ace from libero Nadia Koanui and kills from Svenja Rodenbuesch and Rowell. Hofstra battled back to within two at 6-3, but the Huskies maintained their advantage to lead 14-11 after a strong stretch. The Pride rallied behind Rodenbuesch and Gennari on defense, but Hofstra pulled away late with kills from Rowell and Gennari bringing the Huskies within reach at 24-19 before a 25-19 Hofstra finish.
- Set Three: The third set saw Hofstra take control early with a 14-4 lead as Northeastern struggled offensively. The Huskies fought to stay in it with kills from Brynn Smith and Gennari cutting the deficit, but couldn't overcome the early hole, falling 25-19.
- Set Four: Hofstra dominated the fourth set from the start, racing to a 3-11 lead. The Pride continued their momentum with a barrage of kills from Izadora Stedile, who had seven in the set alone. Despite a service ace from Rowell late, the Huskies were unable to mount a comeback, dropping the set 25-11.
- Emma Rowell led the Huskies with 13 kills and added five digs. Rodenbuesch contributed 12 kills to go along with 13 digs, while Gennari recorded eight kills and four blocks.
- Sofia King and Gabby Reeves split the setting duties, with King tallying 19 assists and Reeves adding 10.
- Koanui anchored the defense with 20 digs.
