BOSTON – With a goal in the final 1:07 of regulation, sophomore
Joe Connor lifted the No. 12 Northeastern men's hockey team to a 3-2 victory over No. 18/19 Boston University on Friday night.
Making his season debut, sophomore goaltender
Quentin Sigurdson earned the win with a 32-save performance across 60 minutes of play.
BU struck first just 1:02 into the game, as Mick Frechette's early tally put the Terriers up 1-0.
Northeastern responded just 2:48 later to even the score at 1-1. Junior
Andy Moore notched his first goal of the season, tipping in a shot from the point by senior
Dylan Finlay. Sophomore
Griffin Erdman also picked up an assist on the equalizer.
Before the opening frame closed, the Terriers reclaimed the lead on a goal from Nick Roukounakis, heading into the first intermission up 2-1.
Keeping with the trend of early-period scoring, the Huskies pulled even just 2:17 into the second. NU sustained pressure in the offensive zone as junior
Eli Sebastian battled for possession along the end boards before quickly finding Finlay at the point. He fed senior
Austen May, who fired home a quick-release shot to tie the game at 2-2.
With the teams deadlocked heading into the final frame, it was in the last two minutes of regulations that NU broke through. Coming off the bench,
Joe Connor buried a one-timer for the game-winning goal, giving the Huskies a 3-2 lead. The freshmen duo of
Giacomo Martino and
Amine Hajibi picked up the assists on the play.
Northeastern will close out its weekend series with Boston University tomorrow night at Agganis Arena, with puck drop set for 7 p.m.
