Lily Shannon scored both goals to deliver the No. 8 Northeastern women's hockey team a 2-1 come-from-behind victory at Maine on Saturday evening. With the victory, the Huskies swept Maine in Orono for the first time since the 2012-13 season.
Northeastern improves to 12-2-0 on the season and 9-0-0 in Hockey East play.Â
- The Black Bears scored first at the 5:52 mark of the first period. Maine ended the first frame with a 1-0 lead.
- Shannon tied the game at 1-1 in the second period with an unassisted tally after picking off a Maine pass and blasting it into goal.
- With just 16 seconds remaining in the second, Shannon scored her second goal of the game and eventual game-winner to put the Huskies ahead 2-1. Her Hockey East leading 10th-goal of the season was assisted by freshman Stryker Zablocki and senior Jules Constantinople.
- The Huskies closed out the third period to claim the 2-1 victory and weekend sweep over the Black Bears.
- Freshman Renna Trembecky posted 30 saves in her third career win.
The Huskies next return home to host No. 6 Penn State beginning on Friday, Nov. 28 at 3:30 p.m. in Matthews Arena.
