Hryckowian, Martino Lead Huskies To Weekend Sweep Over Stonehill

BOSTON –- Junior Dylan Hryckowian and freshman Giacomo Martino each tallied two goals to lead the No. 14 Northeastern men's hockey team to a 4-2 victory over Stonehill on Saturday night.
Stonehill struck first just :58 seconds into the game on a breakaway from Matthew Romer for the 1-0 lead.

Junior Dylan Hryckowian evened the score at 1-1 with just 48 seconds left in the first period. The play developed after a series of hard-fought puck battles along the board by freshman Jacob Mathieu, who managed to free the puck to freshman Amine Hajibi. The rookie slid a quick pass to Hryckowian in front of the crease, where he buried his fourth of the season.

Northeastern grabbed the lead at the 6:39 mark of the second period on a sharp snipe from freshman Giacomo Martino. Senior Vinny Borgesi created space at the point, setting up Hryckowian to thread a pass into the slot, where Martino went top shelf to give NU a 2-1 advantage.

Before the middle frame closed, Stonehill's Romer collected his second tally of the night to tie the game back up with 1:37 left in the period.

With the game tied heading into the third period, the Huskies regained the lead 5:59 into the frame. Junior Tyler Fukakusa connected on a stretch pass up the ice, springing Martino on a breakaway, where he buried his second goal of the night. Borgesi also picked up his second assist of the game on the play, putting NU back on top 3-2.

Hryckowian sealed the win for the Huskies with 37 seconds remaining, capitalizing on a misplayed pass by Stonehill to tuck an empty-net goal, marking his second of the night and securing a 4-2 victory.
Junior goaltender Lawton Zacher backstopped the Huskies to their fourth straight win, turning aside 25 shots over 60 minutes of play.

Northeastern returns to Hockey East play next weekend with a home-and-home series against UConn, beginning on the road Friday (Nov. 14) in Storrs, Conn.
