CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Behind a balanced offensive attack and clutch late-game execution, the Northeastern women's basketball team defeated Boston College 73-67 on Friday afternoon at Conte Forum, snapping a 10-game losing streak to the Eagles and securing the program's first win over BC since 1993.
The Huskies (4-6) had four players score in double figures, led by Nariyah Simmons, who poured in a team-high 16 points with three 3-pointers and a clutch 5-of-6 performance at the free throw line. Yirsy Quéliz and Camryn Collins each added 11 points, while Kailee Beaudion-Foliaki chipped in 10 points in her first career start. Justice Tramble dominated the glass with a game-high 16 rebounds to pace Northeastern's effort on the boards, also adding nine points to the total.
Northeastern seized control in the fourth quarter, building a 14-point advantage at the 6:09 mark. The Huskies' defense clamped down when it mattered most, holding Boston College (4-10) to just 6-of-16 shooting from the field in the final period.
The victory marked Northeastern's first win over a Power Five opponent since defeating Florida in 2018 and ended a three-decade drought against BC that dated back 32 years.
Quéliz was instrumental throughout, distributing four assists to go with her 11Â points, while Collins grabbed five rebounds and registered four steals. Simmons contributed four steals of her own as the Huskies forced 15 Boston College turnovers.
Northeastern jumped out to a 22-18 lead after the first quarter and maintained control for most of the contest. The Huskies led by as many as 14 points in the fourth quarter before Boston College mounted a late rally, cutting the deficit to five points in the final minute. However, clutch free throw shooting down the stretch sealed the historic victory for the visitors.
The Huskies shot 42.9% from the field and converted 6-of-16 attempts from three-point range. Northeastern also dominated on the offensive glass, pulling down 15 offensive rebounds that led to 11 second-chance points.
For Boston College, Amirah Anderson led all scorers with 15 points, while Athena Tomlinson added nine points and knocked down three triples. The Eagles struggled from long range, shooting just 9-of-30 (30.0%) from three-point distance.
