LOWELL, Mass. — The Northeastern men's hockey team finished with a weekend split after dropping to No. 13 UMass Lowell, 3-1, on Saturday night.
- Following a scoreless first period, the Huskies opened scoring just 3:06 into the middle frame. The sophomore duo of Billy Norcross and Andy Moore made a tremendous effort to clear the puck off the boards and into the open slot. Eventually, Moore feed a quick pass to freshman Griffin Erdman for a one-timer to bury his first collegiate goal.
- Before the second period closed out, the River Hawks would net the game-tying tally with under four minutes to go.
- UML tacked on another goal early in the third for the 2-1 lead. Despite NU's efforts to tie the game, a goal was called off for the Huskies and the River Hawks would add an empty netter for the 3-1 final.
- In his second career start, freshman goaltender Quentin Sigurdson finished 23 saves in 58:41 minutes of action
- Junior Jack Williams recorded games highs in both shots (8) and blocks (5).
The Huskies continue Hockey East play with a home-and-home next weekend against Boston University. Northeastern will play at Agganis Arena on Friday (Feb. 21) and are back at Matthews Arena on Saturday (Feb. 22).
