BOSTON— Freshman goaltender Lisa Jönsson of the No. 13/12 Northeastern women's hockey team has been named a semifinalist for this year's Women's Hockey Commissioners Association Goalie of the Year Award, as announced on Friday.
 
Jönsson is one of nine goalies from four NCAA Division I conferences that have advanced from a "Watch List" of 33 outstanding netminders. Voting was conducted by a national panel of coaches, administrators and media members.
 
The Stockholm, Sweden native is the only freshman on the semifinalist list. Jönsson is in the midst of a historic freshman campaign in net for the Huskies. She leads the nation with a .950 save percentage, is second in the NCAA with a 1.26 GAA and is tied for second nationally with seven shutouts.
 
Earlier this season, Jönsson earned Beanpot MVP and Bertagna Award honors as the tournament's top goaltender. The freshman has earned two national monthly honors, two Hockey East monthly honors and four Hockey East weekly awards this season.  
 
Jönsson continues the Husky legacy of having a Northeastern goaltender make the semifinalist round each year since the award's inception in 2021. Aerin Frankel won the award in 2021 and 2022, and Gwyneth Philips took home the honor in 2023.
 
Three finalists will be announced during the conference championships and the winner will be announced during this year's NCAA Frozen Four in Minneapolis, Minn.
