Murphy Heads To Rutgers For NCAA Zone A Diving Championships

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Senior Erin Murphy prepares for the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships, hosted at Rutgers University from Mar. 10 to Mar. 12. Murphy is looking to be one of seven qualifiers in the 1-meter and six in the 3-meter to earn a trip to the 2025 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in Federal Way, Wash.

The first event of the three-day competition is the 3-meter championship, where Murphy is one of 73 divers in the field. The preliminaries start at 10 a.m., and the finals begin at 5 p.m. The 1-meter competition will occur the following day, with the 1-meter prelim beginning at 10:15 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m. She will be one of 82 divers competing.

Murphy qualified for both Zone Championships after sweeping the diving events at Northeastern's home opener against Rhode Island (Oct. 19). She opened with a 289.95 in the 3-meter win before taking the 1-meter dive with a score of 282.00.

The reigning two-time CAA Diver of the Meet is gearing up for her third visit to the Zone A Diving Championships. Last year, she finished 18th with a score of 252.50 in the 1-meter prelim to qualify for the final event, becoming the first Northeastern diver since 2005 to make it past the preliminary stage and the only CAA diver to make the final. She added a top 30 finish in the 3-meter dive, scoring 250.15, more than any other CAA diver competing.

The three-day competition will be streamed on YouTube, with live results available on DiveMeets.com.
