BROOKLINE, Mass. – The Northeastern men's soccer team (1-3-0, 0-2-0 CAA) got a late goal from sophomore
Ethan Kang, but were unable to upend the defending conference champions, Hofstra (2-2-0, 1-0-0 CAA), falling by a score of 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at Parsons Field.
- Hofstra drew an early penalty in the fourth minute that was converted for the 1-0 Pride lead.
- The Pride took a 2-0 lead into halftime after another goal in the 31st minute.
- NU tallied just five total shots in the half to Hofstra's seven, despite four Husky corner kicks in the half.
- Hofstra held its two-goal lead until the 71st minute, where the Pride tallied a third goal, off the rebound of a saved shot, to lead 3-0.
- Just minutes later, the Huskies attempted to start a rally with a deep free kick from Ethan Kang. Kang's service sailed into the box and tucked under the crossbar to spoil the shutout.
- It was Kang's first career goal, and his first time on the score sheet in 2025 after leading the team in assists in 2024.
- Goalkeeper Tobias Jahn was tested often, making a season-high six saves on 13 shots faced – he's up to 22 saves on the year for a .733 save percentage.
- This conference match, originally scheduled for Saturday night, September 6th at 6 p.m. was moved to Sunday do to severe thunderstorms in the area.
Northeastern is scheduled to hit the road for four straight games, beginning this Tuesday, September 9
th at Siena.
