CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After falling behind in the opening 10 minutes of the match, the Northeastern women's soccer team (1-3-2) fought back to bury the equalizer early in the second half to earn a 1-1 draw at Harvard (0-3-3) on Sunday afternoon at Jordan Field.
Harvard, which controlled the tempo for much of the first half, struck first in the eighth minute of the match as Jasmine Leshnick redirected a corner entry from Susie Long inside the left post for the score.
The Crimson nearly took a two-goal lead midway through the half on a shot from the middle of the box, but Huskies goalkeeper
Eliza Teplow (three saves) dove across to make the stop and keep the deficit at one.
Northeastern made the necessary adjustments at halftime, and broke through in the 57th minute when a low shot from
Claire Murray found its way through two Crimson defenders and past goalkeeper Rhiannon Stewart for Murray's team-leading third goal of the season.
It was evenly played the rest of the way, with Teplow making a pair of saves on Kristinsdóttir and Leshnick down the stretch to preserve the draw.
Northeastern will be back in action on Thursday when the Huskies travel to Vermont for a 6 p.m. meeting with the Catamounts.
