BURLINGTON, Vt. – The No. 16/15 Northeastern men's hockey team closed its weekend series against Vermont as the Catamounts skated away with a 5-3 win.
Vermont opened the scoring at 9:43 of the first period on a goal by Max Strand. Northeastern answered in the second period as
Matthew Perkins found the back of the net, with assists from
Vinny Borgesi and
Dylan Hryckowian.
Vermont responded quickly, regaining the lead with a power-play goal from Jonah Aegerter, assisted by Jax Wismer and Cedrick Guindon. The Huskies tied the game late in the period when
Amine Hajibi scored with 1:04 remaining, with help from
Tyler Fukakusa and
Dylan Finlay.
The Catamounts pulled ahead in the third period on goals from Phillip Törnqvist and Jens Richards. Northeastern cut the deficit to one as
Dylan Hryckowian blasted home a slapshot goal, assisted by
Jack Henry and
Austen May. Vermont sealed the game with an empty-net goal in the closing moments.
The Huskies will continue their travel play next Friday, Jan. 16 against New Hampshire at 7 p.m. in Whittemore Center.
