BOSTON -- Propelled by goals from
Éloïse Caron,
Stryker Zablocki, and
Lily Shannon, the No. 8 Northeastern women's ice hockey team (18-6-0) defeated the Boston College Eagles (10-13-1) in the 2026 Women's Beanpot Consolation Game at TD Garden on Tuesday evening.
- Despite strong puck possession and scoring chances by NU in the first period, the Eagles struck first on a breakaway 16:46 into the period. BC collected the puck in its defensive zone, produced a 2-on-2 opportunity and buried a rebound shot for an unassisted breakaway goal to lead 1-0.
- The Huskies produced a quick response with a rebound goal for Éloïse Caron 18:32 into the period. Lily Shannon dropped the puck to Stryker Zablocki behind the net, who fired a shot from the glove side. The shot was saved, but Caron was on the doorstep stick side to bury the rebound, tying the game at 1-1.
- After continuing to generate chances, Northeastern took the lead late in the second period. A turnover at the defensive blue line saw a potential 3-on-2 develop for the Huskies, but a BC stick halted the rush. Alessia Baechler regained the puck and sent it cross-ice to Allie Lalonde. Lalonde's shot was saved in front, but was left right in the empty crease for Stryker Zablocki, scoring her first career beanpot goal for the 2-1 lead at 17:59.
- The Huskies' strong forecheck provided the third goal, with Caron causing a turnover in the offensive zone that fell to Lily Shannon. The captain skated to the far side faceoff dot and ripped a wrist shot that banged in off the near post for the 3-1 lead with 7:39 to play in the third.
- The Eagles tallied a late extra-attacker goal with 2.9 seconds left in regulation to make the final score 3-2.
- Northeastern finished the contest with 57 shots on goal, which is the most by the Huskies in a game since February February 25th, 2023 against Merrimack when NU tallied 61 shots. NU outshot BC 57-29 in the contest.
- The win was Northeastern's first over BC in the consolation round of the tournament since 1982 – Northeastern now has an all-time record of 17-11-1 against the Eagles in the Beanpot.
