NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Northeastern men's hockey team came up short, 3-1, against Merrimack to close out their midweek slate on Friday night.
The Huskies led 1-0 after the first period on sophomore
Griffin Erdman's fifth goal of the season. As Merrimack pushed for offense, freshman
Noah Jones cleaned up a loose puck in the defensive zone and made a coast-to-coast feed to Erdman, who buried a bardown snipe. Jones recorded his first collegiate point on the assist.
The Warriors scored two unanswered goals in the second period and added an empty-net goal in the final frame to skate away with the 3-1 victory.
Goaltender
Lawton Zacher made 29Â saves, while senior
Vinny Borgesi and freshmen
Giacomo Martino and
Jacob Mathieu all finished with two blocks.
Northeastern will play a single contest, set for a 7 p.m. puck drop, next week (Friday, Jan. 30) on the road against UMass.
