Ella Lloyd scored the game-winner to lead the No. 8 Northeastern women's hockey team to a 1-0 victory at No. 5 Connecticut on Saturday evening. With the win, Northeastern improves to 20-6-0 and 15-1-0 in Hockey East play.
The Huskies swept the weekend series at UConn, marking their first sweep over a top-five opponent since defeating then-No. 4/5 Boston College during the 2021-22 season.
- The two Huskies played a scoreless first two periods with UConn holding a 30-24 edge in shots on goal. With just 15.2 seconds remaining in the game, Lloyd finally broke the scoreless deadlock to give Northeastern a 1-0 lead. Lloyd's third goal of the season was assisted by junior Rylie Jones and freshman Emy McDermid.
- Jönsson posted her fourth shutout of the season with a career-high 45 saves. It marked the most saves by a Northeastern goaltender since Gwyneth Philips made 51 saves at then-No. 10/10 UConn on March 9, 2024.
- Northeastern sits at first in the Hockey East standings with 46 points.
The Huskies will next face No. 14/RV Holy Cross beginning on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m.
