BOSTON— With two goals in the third period, the No. 6 Northeastern women's hockey team used a come-from-behind effort to tie with the Holy Cross Crusaders, 2-2, and win the extra Hockey East point in the shootout on Thursday evening at Walter Brown Arena.
- A scoreless first period gave way to Holy Cross scoring the first two goals of the game just 32 seconds apart midway through the second. The Crusaders took a 2-0 lead into the final frame.
- At the 11:24 mark of the third, senior Kristina Allard scored to cut the deficit to 2-1. Her second goal of the season was assisted by senior Lily Brazis and junior Peyton Compton.
- Down a goal with time dwindling, sophomore netminder Lisa Jönsson was pulled in favor of the extra attacker. Senior Jules Constantinople scored to tie the game at 2-2 with just 31 seconds remaining in the game.
- After a scoreless overtime with the game officially ending in a 2-2 tie, the shootout began to determine the extra Hockey East point. Jönsson made six saves to stop the Crusaders and Allard was once again the hero to deliver Northeastern the extra point in the Hockey East standing with her shootout goal.
Northeastern and Holy Cross will close out the two-game series on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. in Worcester.
