BURLINGTON, Vt. – The No. 16/15 Northeastern men's hockey team opened its weekend series against Vermont with a hard-fought matchup Friday Night, ultimately falling, 3-2, at Gutterson Fieldhouse.
Northeastern opened the scoring in game one of the series against Vermont when sophomore
Joe Connor fired home a goal, assisted by sophomore
Jack Henry and junior
Tyler Fukakusa.
Vermont answered late in the first period, tying the game with just 24 seconds remaining on a goal from Sebastian Törnqvist.
The second period remained scoreless until Vermont pulled ahead with 4:48 left, as Jens Richards buried a goal off an assist from Jack Malinski.
The Catamounts struck quickly to open the third period, with Massimo Lombardi extending the lead to 3-1.
Northeastern responded with a snipe from freshman
Amine Hajibi at the 16:08 mark, with junior
Dylan Hryckowian and
Dylan Finlay picking up the assists.
The Huskies will close out their weekend series against the Catamounts tomorrow night at 7 p.m. in Gutterson Fieldhouse.
