BOSTON— The No. 5 Northeastern women's hockey team is set to open its 2026-27 slate against RPI on Friday, Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. The game will be played at Union's M&T Bank Center in Schenectady, N.Y. and will stream live on ESPN+.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- NEW DAWGS ON THE BLOCK: Six freshmen and two transfers join the Huskies for the 2026-27 campaign, consisting of five forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender. The six-member class of freshmen includes– Soren Biderman, Tess Martin, Lilly McInerney, Adéla Pánková, Ava Scannell and Ivana Wey. Kamdyn Davis and Grace Sadura join the Huskies from Minnesota Duluth as transfers. Davis is a junior and Sadura is a graduate student.
- THIS COULD BE THE START: The Huskies are set to open their 2026-27 campaign against RPI. It marks the first time since the 2024-25 season NU has opened its season on the road. In the Flint era, Northeastern is 11-2-4 in season-opening games and the Huskies are riding an eight-game winning-streak in season openers.
- RUNNING THE NUMBERS: The Huskies and Engineers are set to meet for just the seventh time in program history on Friday. Friday's meeting will mark just the second-ever road game for NU against RPI, with the Huskies winning 3-2 in 2008. Northeastern defeated RPI, 6-1, in last year's matchup with five different Huskies scoring for NU. RPI is off to a 0-4-0 start to the season after dropping series to Mercyhurst and Mankato. Mia Montanari leads all Engineers with four points and four assists, while five different RPI players have scored one goal each. In goal, Reese Keating has started three games and owns a 3.06 GAA and .922 save percentage, while Sadie Bellissimo has started one game and owns a 4.03 GAA and .846 save percentage.
Northeastern will next open Hockey East play at Providence on Friday, Oct. 9 at 2 p.m.
