BOSTON -- The Northeastern volleyball team heads to Hempstead, New York, this weekend for a two-match CAA series against Hofstra on Friday and Saturday. The Huskies and Pride will meet Friday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. before wrapping up the series Saturday, Oct. 17 at 3 p.m. Both matches will take place at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center, with Friday's match streaming on FloCollege and MSGSN and Saturday's match streaming on FloCollege.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
1. SCOUTING THE PRIDE – Hofstra enters the weekend at 12-4 overall and 7-1 in CAA play, sitting second in the conference standings. The Pride won eight straight matches before splitting last weekend's series at UNCW, earning a dramatic five-set victory Friday before falling in four sets Saturday. Hofstra opened conference play with sweeps of Hampton and Stony Brook before taking both matches against Campbell. Beatriz Braga leads the Pride offensively, recording 15 kills and 10 digs in Saturday's match against UNCW for her seventh double-double of the season. Hofstra will look to defend its home court, where it has won its last four meetings with Northeastern.
2. TOP DOGS – Northeastern continues to feature several Huskies among the CAA's statistical leaders. Beatrice Gennari ranks second in the conference with a .437 hitting percentage and 10th with 1.00 blocks per set. Emma Rowell ranks sixth with 3.18 kills per set and 10th with 3.45 points per set, while setter Arina Sosinovica ranks seventh with 5.98 assists per set. Iris Canko rounds out the group, ranking fifth in the CAA with 3.16 digs per set. The Huskies will look to lean on their conference leaders as they take on one of the CAA's top teams.
3. LAST TIME OUT – Northeastern returns to the road after a pair of 3-1 losses to Elon at Cabot Center last weekend. Despite the series sweep, the Huskies showed resilience in both matches, taking the third set each day. On Saturday, Northeastern rallied from a 12-7 deficit in the third set to win 26-24, with Cayenne Ceman recording six kills in the frame while hitting .750. Beatrice Gennari and Ceman delivered the closing kills after Elon tied the set at 24, while Arina Sosinovica led the Huskies with 24 assists in the match. Emma Rowell paced Northeastern with 13 kills on Saturday, and Aven Crosby added a team-high 13 digs. The Huskies will look to carry those positive stretches into the weekend against Hofstra.
