DEDHAM, Mass. — Northeastern field hockey (4-6, 3-0 CAA) earned a 2-1 win over Towson (4-9, 0-4 CAA) Friday afternoon at Dedham Field, remaining undefeated in CAA play and earning the program's best start in conference play since 2014.
- The Huskies jumped out to an early lead, as Jessica Garden scored an unassisted goal just 2:53 into the game. Clara Ojea Quintana doubled Northeastern's advantage at 10:48, finishing a pass from Addison Polakoff to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead after the first quarter.
- Northeastern held the two-goal advantage through a scoreless second quarter, limiting Towson to two shots while continuing to protect its lead heading into halftime.
- Ojea Quintana's second of her rookie campaign would end up being the game-winner after a Towson got on the board at 36:53, cutting the Huskies' lead to 2-1 and marking the first goal Northeastern has allowed in CAA play this season.
- The Huskies held off the Tigers throughout the fourth quarter to secure the victory. Aiko Price made two saves in goal, while Phoebe Hall recorded a huge defensive on a penalty corner save to help preserve the one-goal lead.
- The last time Northeastern was 3-0 in CAA play was 2014, after wins over Hofstra, Drexel, and Towson. Northeastern finished that season 5-1 in CAA play.
Northeastern returns to Dedham Field on Sunday, Oct. 11, hosting Stonehill at noon on FloCollege.
