Stony Brook's Janay Brantley cut the lead to two with a three-pointer early in the second quarter, but Northeastern responded with a 9-0 run, punctuated by Tramble's three-pointer, to build a 33-25 advantage with 1:07 remaining in the half. Tramble's driving layup with 25 seconds left pushed the halftime lead to 35-26. The Huskies shot 66.7 percent from the field in the second quarter while holding the Seawolves to 31.3 percent.
Collins took over in the third quarter, scoring eight points including a putback tip-in layup and a three-pointer that pushed the lead to 11. Stony Brook made a push behind Brantley and Diaka Berete, cutting the deficit to six at one point, but Tramble's tip-in layup restored an eight-point cushion. Beatriz Pérez Pulgar capped the quarter with a buzzer-beating three-pointer to send Northeastern into the fourth with a 56-44 advantage.
Northeastern built its largest lead of the game at 14 points on a Collins three-pointer with 6:37 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Huskies leaned on the free-throw line in the final period, going 10-of-14 from the charity stripe. Quéliz scored 10 of her 12 points in the second half, including a pair of free throws that gave the Huskies a 72-60 lead with 1:15 remaining to seal the victory.
