Lily Shannon totaled three points to lead seven multi-point scorers as the No. 5 Northeastern women's hockey team defeated Maine, 5-1, Thursday night at Walter Brown Arena.
- A two-goal opening frame gave Northeastern a 2-0 lead. At the 2:49 mark, junior Allie Lalonde capitalized on the man advantage off feeds from freshman Ella Lloyd and senior Kristina Allard.
- Northeastern extended its advantage when Shannon found the back of the net for her first of the evening. Sophomore Morgan Jackson and Lloyd, picking up her second assist of the night, set up the play.
- Another pair of goals in the second stanza gave Northeastern a 4-0 lead at the second intermission. Shannon needed only 12 seconds to light the lamp for the second time, assisted by freshman Stryker Zablocki and sophomore Éloïse Caron.
- With 25.7 ticks left in the second, Jackson buried her first of the game on the power play off feeds from Allard and Lalonde, giving all three their second points of the contest.
- Zablocki made it 5-0 precisely at the midway point of the final frame, converting on a breakaway with assists to Shannon and Caron.
- Before the game concluded, Maine tacked on a power-play goal for the 5-1 final.
- Sophomore netminder Lisa Jönsson improved to 16-4-1 and posted her fifth shutout of the season with 33 saves.
Northeastern faces a quick turnaround with Saturday's (Feb. 7) 5 p.m. game at Vermont in Gutterson Fieldhouse.
