POSTGAME PRESS CONFERENCE
MINNEAPOLIS— For the fourth time in the program history, the No. 5 Northeastern women's hockey team is headed to the Frozen Four after defeating No. 4 Minnesota, 4-2, on Saturday afternoon at Ridder Arena in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
- A little over five minutes to the game, sophomore Éloïse Caron put the Huskies ahead 1-0 with an unassisted tally. In near identical fashion to Caron's goal, freshman Stryker Zablocki gave the Huskies a 2-0 lead at the 8:53 mark of the first period. Zablocki's goal was assisted by Caron and freshman Alessia Baechler.
- The Huskies weren't done scoring in the first as senior Mia Langlois potted a power-play goal at the 14:31 mark to give NU a 3-0 lead. Langlois' third goal of the year had assists from Baechler and junior Allie Lalonde.
- In the second, sophomore Morgan Jackson extended the Husky lead to 4-0. She had assists from Lalonde and junior Peyton Compton.
- Minnesota scored on the power-play with 8:50 on the clock in the third period to cut the deficit to 4-1. The Gophers then added another power-play tally with an extra-attacker to bring the final score to 4-2.
- Sophomore netminder Lisa Jönsson finished with 45 saves to backstop the Huskies to the Frozen Four. Â
Northeastern will take on the winner of No. 1 Ohio State vs. Yale in the Frozen Four hosted by Penn State at Pegula Ice Arena in University Park, Pa. on March 20.
