CHERRY HILL, N.J. — The Northeastern women's rowing team opened the 2026 spring season Sunday morning on the Cooper River at the Doc Hosea Invite — won by Yale — going up against a competitive field that featured top-15 crews — No. 12 Syracuse, No. 8 Rutgers, No. 9 Virginia and No. 3 Yale.
"We welcome the chance to compete against teams of this caliber," said head coach
Joe Wilhelm. "Testing ourselves against top-15 competition this early in the season gives us a clear picture of where we are and what we need to build on. These races will be great for our development as a program."
Session I: vs. No. 12 Syracuse & No. 9 Virginia
- The varsity eight crossed the finish line in a time of 6:50.00.
- Stroked by Liv Oyen, the second varsity eight finished with a time of 6:58.90.
- The varsity four posted a time of 8:02.90.
- Stroked by Persia Brown, the second varsity four finished in a time of 8:08.00.
- Northeastern's third varsity eight finished with a time of 7:19.00. In a race against Virginia and Rutgers, the fourth varsity eight crossed the finish line at 7:35.90.
Session II: vs. No. 3 Yale
- Stroked by Ava Sjogren, the varsity eight crossed the finish line in a time of 6:39.10.
- The second varsity eight finished with a time of 6:51.40.
- Stroked by Nell Murphy, the varsity four posted a time of 7:46.80.
- The second varsity four finished in a time of 7:57.30.
- Northeastern's third varsity eight posted a time of 7:12.40, while the fourth varsity eight — racing against Virginia and Rutgers — finished in 7:31.50.
The Huskies take to the Charles for the first time this year next Saturday, April 4, facing Boston University.
