BROOKLINE, Mass. -- Northeastern baseball (14-13) dropped a midweek contest to UConn (15-15), 21-5 in seven innings on Tuesday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.
Carmelo Musacchia and Harrison Feinberg each homered for the Huskies, with Musacchia connecting in the first inning and Feinberg going deep in the third. Charlie Criscola had a strong afternoon offensively, tripling to right center in the second to score Carter Bentley and finishing with an RBI on the day. Will Fosberg added a sacrifice fly in the second to plate Criscola, and AJ Aschettino drove in Musacchia with a groundout in the fourth.
- Northeastern struck in the bottom of the first on Musacchia's solo home run down the left field line, to answer back UConn's two-run homer in the top of the frame, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
- After a UConn two-run second, Northeastern tacked those two runs back on with a Charlie Criscola RBI triple and a Will Fosberg sac fly.
- Northeastern held UConn off the board in the third and tied the game on a Harrison Feinberg opposite field home run, knotting the score at 4-4.
- The Storrs Huskies took the lead for good in the fourth with a four-run frame, while the Broookline Huskies added their final run in the fourth on Aschettino's RBI groundout, cutting the deficit to 8-5 before UConn settled in for three scoreless frames on defense.
- UConn tallied its 21 runs on 11 hits, 13 walks, and one NU error.
Northeastern stays home this weekend for a CAA series against Monmouth. That series begins Thursday, April 2 at 2:30 p.m. on FloCollege and NESN+.
