THREE THINGS TO KNOW
1. WINDEMERE CUP HISTORY
The Windermere Cup got its start in 1987, when Windermere Real Estate founder John Jacobi joined up with the University of Washington to expand the annual rowing event held in conjunction with the Seattle Yacht Club's Opening Day parade. It features some of the best teams in the world and has become one of the world's premier rowing events and a staple of Seattle's rowing community.
Â
The Northeastern men's team is making its second ever appearance at the Windemere Cup, and first since 2003 when the Huskies competed against Washington and the Poland National Team. Northeastern's women's rowing program also competed in the Cup once in 1997.

2. HUSKIES HOMECOMING
This weekend will be a homecoming for Northeastern head coach
Alex Perkins, who was a four-year oarsman at Washington. He was part of four IRA National Championship teams from 2012 to 2015, and sat in the stroke seat of the first varsity in UW's 2013 and 2015 IRA National Champion crews. He also won a gold medal in the freshman eight in 2012.Â

3. THE ROAD AHEAD
Postseason competition gets underway with the Eastern Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. on Sunday, May 17 ahead of the IRA National Championships, which begin on Friday, May 29 in Gold River, Calif.
