PHILADELPHIA – The Northeastern men's soccer team (2-2-2, 0-1-1) went down 4-1 to Drexel only to score twice in a span of seven minutes in the second half before running out of time on Saturday afternoon at Vidas Field, 4-3.
Drexel came out fast, taking a 4-1 lead into halftime behind goals from Aamir Ketbache, Ben Weller, Mo Diallo and Tiago Lima-Bittencourt — with Diallo and Lima-Bittencourt trading assists on their respective tallies in the 32nd and 35th minutes. Northeastern's lone first-half response came from Kortay Koc, who buried his team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 25th minute off a feed from
Bryce Flowers.
The Huskies came alive after the break.
Tate Duax cut the deficit to 4-2 in the 55th minute, finishing an assist from Flowers, before
Will Schmidt made it a one-goal game in the 62nd minute, converting a Koc assist to pull Northeastern within a goal.
Despite a late push — Northeastern earned three straight corner kicks in the final 10 minutes and had a golden opportunity in the 83rd minute when the Huskies were awarded a penalty kick — Koc's attempt from the spot missed the mark, and Drexel held on for the win.
