BROOKLINE, Mass – Northeastern men's soccer hosted Central Connecticut State for a mid-week match on Tuesday. The Huskies offense driven first half lifted them past the Blue Devils with a final score of 2-1. This win puts the Huskies at 3-2-2 on the season.

Senior defender Gus Mendieta got things going in the ninth minute with a cross pass from freshman midfielder Kortay Koç to put the Huskies up 1-0. Sophomore midfielder Will Schmidt assisted Koç's pass and this was Mendieta's first goal of the season and second of his career

Sophomore midfielder Anthony Rapo joined in on the scoring with a 37th minute cross pass from freshman midfielder Tate Duax. Rapo's first collegiate goal put the Huskies up 2-0. Central Connecticut State would follow with a goal 16 seconds later to cut the Huskies lead 2-1.

Junior Brady Elmblad held it down in net with eight saves, six of them coming in the second half. NU held off the CCSU in the second to secure the 2-1 victory.

The Huskies will now turn their attention to another conference contest against Monmouth on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m.
