TOWSON, Md. — Northeastern volleyball fought back from a set down and forced a fourth-set battle at SECU Arena on Saturday, but couldn't hold off Towson in a 3-1 loss (25-22, 23-25, 25-20, 25-22).
Towson jumped out in the opener, riding a .333 hitting clip to take set one. Northeastern responded in kind, out-hitting the Tigers to even the match at a set apiece. But Towson seized control from there, pulling away late in the third and again riding a string of kills down the stretch in the fourth to put the match away.
Emma Rowell paced Northeastern's attack all night, piling up a match-high 16 kills while hitting .268.
Brynn Smith was right behind her with 10 kills, and
Beatrice Gennari was the most efficient hitter on the floor for either side, going 9-for-15 with no errors for a blistering .600 clip.
Valentina Meirelles added seven kills of her own.

Iris Canko led all players with 20 digs.
The Huskies will next host North Carolina A&T for a two-game series beginning on Friday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. in the Cabot Center.
