CHARLESTON, S.C.— Down a goal twice, the Northeastern women's soccer team used a come-from-behind effort to defeat the College of Charleston Cougars, 3-2, on Thursday evening. With the win, Northeastern improves to 4-4-2 overall and 2-0-0 in the CAA.
- Charleston scored a penalty kick goal in the 18th minute to jump out to a 1-0 lead. In the final minute of the half, freshman Lula Arcila tied the game at 1-1 after putting home a free kick from sophomore Ava Gialanella. The goal marked Arcila's third in two games.
- In the second half, the Cougars retook a one-goal lead just under two minutes in. The Huskies then tied it up again at 2-2 a little over three minutes later with junior Lughano Nyondo's first goal of the season. Nyondo's goal was a header off Gialanella's corner kick, which marked her second assist of the game.
- Northeastern took the lead for the first time in the 62nd minute, with Claire Murray's tally. Murray tapped home a pass from Arcila who finished her day with a goal and an assist.
- Senior goalkeeper Eliza Teplow posted four saves in the win.
- The Huskies have now posted two wins to open CAA play for the first time since the 2018 season.
Northeastern will wrap up its road stint at UNCW on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m.
