BOSTON — The Northeastern volleyball team grinded through a back-and-forth battle on Saturday at the Cabot Center, closing out N.C. A&T in five sets, 3-2 (25-18, 22-25, 21-25, 25-16, 21-19). With the win, the Huskies swept the Aggies.
Northeastern came out firing to take the opener, but N.C. A&T answered right back to even the match, and the Aggies added the third to grab a 2-1 lead. The Huskies refused to fold, rolling in the fourth to force a decider and then closing it out in the fifth to take the match.
Cayenne Ceman led Northeastern's attack with a team-high 17 kills, hitting .441 for the match. Bryce Leatherwood was electric off the bench, going 10-for-11 with no errors for a scorching .909 clip. Valentina Meirelles added 12 kills, while Emma Rowell and Beatrice Gennari each chipped in 10 kills of their own.
Setter Arina Sosinovica ran the Huskies' offense all match, dishing 44 assists, and libero Iris Canko led all players with 18 digs.
The win improves Northeastern to 4-8 overall and 2-2 in Coastal Athletic Association play, while N.C. A&T falls to 5-8 and 0-2. The Huskies will next travel to UNCW for a two-game series beginning on Friday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m.
